The virtue I picked is temperance, it is, eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation. In my opinion the virtue means do not eat just to eat and do not drink just to get drunk. It is ok to eat, but it is not ok to eat to make you feel better or for something to do. Drinking is the same way, some people use it to suppress their problems, while some people drink to have “fun”. Most of the time people eat or drink not thinking about the end result, some people try to control their eating or drinking habits but in today’s age unlike in Ben Franklin’s time people depend more on their food and drinks. Over the next couple I will practice temperance by controlling what I eat and when I eat things. I will not eat when I am bored at home and I will only eat when I am hungry. I never drink so that is not a problem. I won’t eat fast food and I will try to eat healthier and better.
Update #1- As much as I have tried, fast food is so much easier when you have a busy schedule. I have been able to control my eating though and I have been eating a little healthier. I am going to keep trying to improve though.
Jake- This is a good intro. How are you doing with practicing temperance? I'd like to see some updates! -Mrs. V
